With more than 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur, Saliza has transformed her family business from a single company into a group of companies, celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2022. Under her leadership, BGCH became the 1st Malaysian SME to receive The UN Women Asia-Pacific Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Award for the category of industry and community engagement in 2020. Saliza strongly advocates family business sustainability and is an author of an entrepreneurship book “Growing A Sustainable Family Business. Our First 30 Years. Values & Strategies for Entrepreneurs & SMEs.” Saliza currently serves as Deputy President of The National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia (NAWEM) and Industry Advisory Panel for Faculty of Management of Multimedia University. Advocating women leadership and women in security, Saliza was the first elected female Vice President in the 40 years’ history of The Malaysia Security Industry Association (PIKM) and currently serves as Head of the International Bureau of PIKM. As a subject-matter expert on security and Certified Crime Prevention Specialist accredited by The Chartered International Institute of Security and Crisis Management (CIISCM), Saliza sits on HRD CORP’s Security Industry Expert Committee and Technical Standards Committee (Security), Department of Skills Development of The National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS); two main agencies governed by The Human Resource Ministry of Malaysia. Saliza graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya with industrial training at University de La Rochelle, France.Saliza is also recipient of several entrepreneurship awards, such as The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Creative Young Entrepreneur Award 2011, NCWO Young Entrepreneur Icon Award 2015, MSPC SME Icon Award 2017, AWEN Outstanding ASEAN Woman Entrepreneur Award 2019 and Woman Super Achiever Award 2020 at the 7th World Women Leadership Congress & Awards in Mumbai. Saliza is an alumna the East-West Centre Changing Faces, a leadership programme in Hawai’i funded by the US Department of States.
